Charity Shoot – Shirt Design By Armando Heredia

Art Against Oppression By far, one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet is artist & author, Armando Heredia. I love this guy for a bunch of reasons, but one of my favorite things about him is that you can tell that he just genuinely loves people. People with hearts so full of love like that change the world for the better & I feel blessed to know I can call him a friend! When Armando showed me the art he created & told me about his idea for the t-shirts, I knew I had to get involved in the project. Part of the proceeds from the shirt sales will go to International Justice Mission. I want to send a shot out to Bert’s Chuckwagon for allowing us to...

20 Ways to Spread Christmas Cheer

We’ve all heard it said that “it’s the little things that count.” We could give so much more of ourselves just by adding little blessings to someone else’s life. There are countless ways that we can spread some Christmas love. Have you ever had an idea for a random act of kindness? Here are 20 ideas I came up with to spread Christmas cheer. Read through the list & take note of which ones you’d like to do. 1.) Buy a piece of organic chocolate for your sweetest friend. 2.) Top 10 Quotes From President Abraham Lincoln

FIrst of all, I want to show you my favorite photo of Honest Abe entitled “Abraham Lincoln, seated, holding spectacles and a pencil,” taken by Alexander Gardner on Feb 5th, 1865. I love this photo for so many reasons: The Depth of Field & how it’s somewhat out of focus past his beard onto his eyes The photo has scratches & spots which adds to its timelessness The way you can see his hands in motion, like he had to hold the glasses & pencil in order to keep the rest of him still You can see his beard starting to gray, his heavy wrinkles, & his hair in disarray, but it matters not because the character of the man himself overshadows it...

MLK Day of Service

A bunch of us from Render, the college/careers ministry I direct, met at 7:45am & booked it out to World Impact in St. Louis.  I absolutely love World Impact for the work that they do in the inner city of St. Louis. My friend Katherine always does a fantastic job pulling everyone together to make a difference. Last I heard, she was responsible for getting around 60 volunteers for MLK Day of Service, but I’m sure it was probably more. From the World Impact building, we took off for Turner Middle School in St. Louis & teamed up with United Way & Americorps. They were expecting around 75-100 volunteers in total, but ended up with well over 150...

Learn Something New

Well, it’s 9-9-09 today! It’s one of those days that feels like something exciting is supposed to happen! I guess instead of just waiting for something to happen, I could make something happen, right?  Any ideas? Over the last couple weeks, I’ve experienced a couple of firsts in my life: first time teaching a college photography course first time preaching on a Sunday morning I have always loved teaching people about things that I believe adds value to life.  Actually, we all should make reading & studying information that adds a fresh new perspective to life a top priority. Every time I pick up a new book, I always end up asking myself why I...
