Christmas Time Is Here

Christmastime is easily most everyones’ favorite holiday! The lights, the tree, the music, the food, the family, the remembrance & celebration of Christ’s birth bring us all together for wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. Aside from the cold weather, I’d have to say that Christmas possibly tops the list for me as well. However, I also love Easter, Thanksgiving, & The 4th of July for what those celebrations mean in my life! Mainly, anything that celebrates FREEDOM, whether it be spiritual, political, financial, or any other kind of freedom within a moral nature, is a holiday well worth celebrating to me! I have a wonderful friend...

Happiness Throws a Shower of Sparks

I saw this image online somewhere & wanted to share it with you. I’ve heard the following quote credited to both Albert Einstein & Rita Mae Brown, but no matter who said it first, it appears in probably 75% of every leadership book I’ve read. “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.” I’d like to take this concept just a little further. Galatians 5:22-23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” For those who belong to God, everything about their lives...

Joy: The Necessary Choice for Effectiveness

Posted by on Jun 2, 2008 | 0 comments

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Have you heard the saying, “If Bob has a problem with everyone, Bob is usually the problem”? Bob has a tendency to exude irritability, negative thinking, a legalistic spirit, and an abrasive personality? And to top it off, he speaks openly about his active role as a Christian. What impact does a person like this really have on the world around him? Do others feel drawn to him? What effectiveness does a Christian honestly produce without radiating joy? Maybe you & I declare innocence when comparing ourselves to...

Love From the Balcony

“Whatever you do, do it in kindness & love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14 Have you ever had one of those days where none of the events in it seem to unfold as planned? You wake up and realize you need to leave for work in 10 minutes. On top of that, you can only find one clean sock, you burnt your delicious toast breakfast (YEAH TOAST!!), & somehow you locked your keys in your car. Now these hardly qualify as horrific experiences, but maybe at times you find yourself in severe, heartbreaking situations. Maybe you feel things in your world crashing down all around you & you just need someone to reach out to. What friend can you always count on? Who will...

Direct My Path

Posted by on Mar 4, 2008 | 0 comments

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 This week, I took a trip out to Omaha, NE. This time away from home has given me a lot of time to think & reflect on my life. I wonder how, after living for 25 years, I ended up at this very place. What events & what path did I take to make this happen? I have felt moments of loneliness, confusion, and sadness & yet somehow I have this overwhelming sense that God has His hand on my life and that He loves me deeper than I could ever fathom. I owe everything I have & everything I am to...
