MLK Day of Service

Posted on Jan 19, 2010 in Blog, Faith, Photography

A bunch of us from Render, the college/careers ministry I direct, met at 7:45am & booked it out to World Impact in St. Louis.  I absolutely love World Impact for the work that they do in the inner city of St. Louis. My friend Katherine always does a fantastic job pulling everyone together to make a difference. Last I heard, she was responsible for getting around 60 volunteers for MLK Day of Service, but I’m sure it was probably more.

From the World Impact building, we took off for Turner Middle School in St. Louis & teamed up with United Way & Americorps. They were expecting around 75-100 volunteers in total, but ended up with well over 150 volunteers.

Here are some of the photos I took while I was there. Hope this somehow inspires you to get out & volunteer your time. There is truly nothing like making a sacrifice on someone else’s behalf & for the greater good.
